Power
Power drives industry. The energy unleashed in fuel, and the forces of nature, when properly channeled becomes useful to mankind. Energy tapped from fuel, water, sun, wind, waves, chemicals, and many other sources are often converted to electrical energy. Many machines draw their power from electricity. In these pages, we will explore some of the common uses of power, and how they are generated and channeled for use.
We will examine electrical supply and distribution. We will explore the wiring, the protection, the circuit breakers, the types of lights, the transformers, the motors, and many other common electrical devices.
Generation of electricity is carried out in many facilities. We will have topics on generation of electricity, on synchronization and parallel running of generators, adjustments of voltage, sharing of loads, frequency adjustments, and the types of alternators, and prime movers.
Steam power is utilized also in a few industries and buildings. We will be exploring steam boilers, their construction, and operation. Many industries use steam for heating purposes. Some industries with excess waste materials utilize them in waste heat boilers to generate steam for driving turbo-generators.
Let the power be used for the good of mankind!
